SAW SUCCESS FOR AYR WRITERS' CLUB

Writers' clubs from all over Scotland meet annually at the Scottish Association of Writers (SAW) conference in Erskine to hear keynote speakers and take part in a range of competitions in a variety of genres.
As in previous years, members from Ayr Writers' Club brought home a number of awards - a reflection of the high calibre of AWC writing.
Following on her success in 2009, Alison Craig this year won the May Marshall book review trophy for the second time, along with the Dorothy Dunbar Rose Bowl for her poetry. Alison also had success with her general article, which was commended.
Greta Yorke's story for the Under 7s took the Writers' News Trophy, while Maggie Bolton was highly commended and Janice Johnston commended. Janice found further success with her women's short story which took second place, while her children's novel was placed third. The crime novel category brought a commended for Fiona Atchison.
